Over the years, I have come across a few helpful resources for preparing children for Sunday’s Gospel. Today, I am sharing 3 of my favorite resources for catechists and families to share with their children.
Loyola Press

God speaks to us in many ways, including through the Sunday Scripture readings. The Sunday Connection provides useful background and activities to better understand the upcoming Sunday’s Scripture readings, helping you to connect the Scripture to daily life in a meaningful way.
Each post includes the full Sunday readings, and background information about the readings. Then, there are activities called “Making the Connection” for different age categories (grades 1-3, grades 4-6, and grades 7-8). These include excellent discussion questions and discussioon prompts for the different age levels. There is also a section for families called “Family Connection.” These “Connections” also have ideas for relevant songs and prayers connected to the readings.
Catholic Mom
CatholicMom.com has some wonderful Sunday Gospel resources for families and catechists.

Free Catholic coloring pages, Mass worksheets, puzzles, and more to help you prepare for Sunday Mass. These activities—available in English and Spanish and prepared by our Sunday Gospel Team—were created for you to print and share with your family, classroom, or parish.
The resources include links to the Sunday readings on the USCCB site and coloring pages for Sunday as well as other feast days occuring that week.
Holy Heroes
Holy Heroes has an awesome free resource called “Sunday Mass Prep.” You simply sign up on their website, and the Holy Heroes team will send you an email each week with the Sunday Gospel resources. These include activity pages for little ones, coloring pages, quizzes and videos that explain the Gospel to kids using skits or felt scenes. They also always send resources for special feasts and all Holy Days of Obligation.
