Where did Mary live? What are some Marian symbols? What are some Marian plants? This book, OSV Kids Discover: Mary, by Colleen Pressprich will answer these questions. Two of our Amazing CateKIDs will tell you a little bit about this book.
Favorite Part
My Favorite Part of this Book: Amazing CateKID #1
My favorite part of this book was that it had so much information that most Catholic kids probably didn’t even know! This book talks so much about Mary’s life, symbols for her, and even plants for her.
My Favorite Part of this Book: Amazing CateKID #2
My favorite part of this book is the page about Marian plants. There are over 1,000 plants to honor Mary. I like this page because of the illustrations. The illustrations are very pretty. I also loved that the book explained about each part in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Interesting Facts
Some Interesting things I Learned in this Book: Amazing CateKID #1
This book has many things for a Catholic kid to know. I will now share with you three interesting things that I learned while reading this book!
#1. At the visitation, when Mary encountered Elizabeth, Jesus cleansed John from Original sin.
#2. Mary’s name might have been “Miriam,” in honor of Moses’ sister named Miriam.
#3. I enjoyed reading the story of Our Lady of Kibeho. (This book has some stories of Marian apparitions.) I thought that it was so cool that these apparitions were so recent.
Some Interesting things I Learned in this Book: Amazing CateKID #2
Some interesting things I learned in this book was that a cleft in a rock was made for baby John (St. John the Baptist) and Elizabeth (St. Elizabeth of the Visitation) to hide during Herod’s persecution. Another interesting thing I learned was that the bishop normally approves an apparition, but if he has a hard time he can call other bishops from the Vatican. Lastly, I learned that a MariGold is a flower for Mary’s Gold and a Morning Glory flower is for Mary’s Mantel.
Why I think Catholic Kids Should have this book
I think that a Catholic kid would find pleasure in flipping through the pages of this book and learning something new. A child can learn so much about his/her Heavenly Mother by reading this enjoyable book. This book will really increase a child’s knowledge about Mary.
Who is this book for?
If your child is interested in learning about Mary, this book is for you! This book is recommended for ages seven and up. It’s a great book for a Sacrament gift, for instance, First Confession, First Communion, and Confirmation.
