Recently, I spoke with the president of a site that offers wonderful online catechism classes called CatechismClass.com. CatechismClass.com offers classes and materials for parish catechists, Catholic schools, and homeschooling families, so you will definitely want to head on over to the site to take a look at what they have to offer! Read on to hear from the president of CatechismClass.com, Matthew Plese, in our recent interview.
AC: What types of services, resources, and classes do you offer?

Whether a student is a kindergarten child, a high schooler, a convert, or a lifelong Catholic, we have classes for them! Our resources cover everything from foundational catechesis and adult faith formation to full sacramental preparation programs for anyone and everyone at all levels. We have courses for Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, RCIA, Marriage Prep, and more.

Online Catechism Classes for Catechists and Parishes
AC: What services are available specifically for catechists or parishes?
CC: CatechismClass.com is proud to serve parishes, schools, and catechists with one of the most flexible, affordable, and complete online platforms for Catholic religious education available today. Since 2004, we’ve been a trusted provider for sacramental preparation, children’s CCD, RCIA, adult faith formation, marriage preparation, and more. Our programs are entirely online, feature-rich, and designed to make the lives of DREs, priests, and catechists easier. With automated grading, real-time quiz reports, roster tracking, and certificates of completion, educators can oversee student progress with confidence and accountability. Our lessons are not PDFs—they’re interactive, narrated, beautifully designed, and rooted in fidelity to the Magisterium. We offer individual course access or bulk parish license agreements, which allow parishes to enroll dozens or even hundreds of students across multiple grade levels or adult programs for one flat fee. These licenses are ideal for parishes unsure of exact enrollment numbers and come with generous discounts—up to 60% off. And for catechists specifically, we also offer a special Catechist Training Program to help them navigate the challenges facing our students today and to help empower them to better teach and transmit the Catholic Faith.
AC: Please tell us about your Sacramental Prep classes. How do they work?
CC: Our sacramental prep classes—including Baptism, First Confession, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage Prep—are fully online and comprehensive. Each course walks the student through doctrine, Scripture, prayers, and practical preparation. At the end of each program, a printable certificate of completion is issued. For children, parents are actively involved as co-learners and guides. For adults, the programs serve as stand-alone or supplementary formation tools. Everything is self-paced and accessible 24/7. We provide the robust and authentic formation someone needs for their Sacraments and the student can then work with their parish to finish any remaining work in order to receive the Sacraments.
Godparent Preparation Class
AC: The Godparent Preparation class looks very unique! Could you please tell us more about what is involved and what Godparents (and Godchildren!) can gain from it?
CC: Absolutely. Our Godparent Preparation Course is one of our most popular and unique offerings. We are honored to be the #1 godparent class in the world – we serve parishes in all 50 states and in dozens of other countries. It’s designed to help godparents understand their sacred role, not just at the Baptismal ceremony but throughout the child’s life. The course explores the responsibilities of being a spiritual mentor, the meaning of the Baptismal promises, and how to live out the Faith as a model for one’s godchild. We also offer a Certificate of Completion that fulfills this Baptismal prep requirement.
Online Catechism Classes for Homeschoolers
AC: What services are available specifically for homeschoolers?
CC: Our homeschool programs are designed with flexibility, affordability, and faithfulness in mind. Created by priests and experienced Catholic homeschooling parents working together, our curriculum supports families who want a traditional, no-compromise Catholic education. Each grade-level program includes lessons built around Scripture and the Catechism, clearly showing how the two are connected. Lessons feature rich commentary from trusted Catholic sources, saint stories tied to the liturgical year, essential prayers in both English and Latin (with audio pronunciation), and engaging activities to help children live out the Faith—such as works of mercy, parish participation, and hands-on projects. Devotional prayers conclude each lesson, reinforcing a spirit of piety. With audio narration available at the push of a button and links to age-appropriate Catholic resources, our programs are comprehensive and easy to use in any home setting.
AC: How do homeschoolers implement your classes in the home?
CC: Our courses are designed for maximum flexibility. Each student receives a unique login, and they can complete the lessons at their own pace. Homeschool parents often integrate our lessons into their weekly schedule as part of their religion curriculum, usually doing one or two lessons per week. Each course includes built-in grading and reporting, so there’s no need for parents to create lesson plans or grade assignments. It’s a truly plug-and-play solution for Catholic homeschooling. It works excellently as part of any homeschooling curricula. And we also provide free resources as well like audio prayers and Catholic coloring activities for children.
Favorite and New Resources from CatechismClass.com
AC: What is/are your personal favorite resource(s) on the site and why?
CC: One of my personal favorites is our Adult Faith Formation Program. It’s ideal for Catholics who want to deepen their understanding of the Faith or return to the Church after time away. The course is both doctrinally rich and spiritually engaging. Even priests state how much they learn from the course. Another favorite is our Catholic Liturgical Year Program that really helps lifelong Catholics go much deeper into the Church’s Liturgical Year than ever before. And a third favorite is our course on the Precepts of the Church at which goes into the forgotten history of fasting and abstinence along with Holy Days of Obligation. Everyone remarks that 80% or more of that course’s content is new to them!
AC: Do you have plans for any new classes or resources in the near future? What else can we expect to see from catechismclass.com?
CC: Yes! We’re always expanding and adding new courses. We hope to launch in the near future a Science from a Catholic Perspective Course that will complement our relatively new Catholic World History course.
AC: Any final thoughts or tips you would like to share with our readers?
CC: In today’s fast-paced world, it can be challenging to make time for religious education—whether as a parent, catechist, or parish leader. But the formation of souls is too important to put off or simplify. At CatechismClass.com, our goal is to make faithful, thorough Catholic education not only possible, but convenient and engaging for every learner. Whether you’re teaching your children at home, preparing for a sacrament, or overseeing a parish program, don’t be afraid to embrace flexible tools that can serve your needs while remaining deeply rooted in the teachings of the Church. Always keep in mind that catechesis is not just about passing on information—it’s about forming saints. And we’re here to help you do exactly that.
