Imitate Christ by Honoring His Mother

By Lisa Mladinich

Editor’s Note: Steve McVey has been supporting the maintenance of this website for several years. Please consider supporting him by using the links in this post to order one or more of these superb Marian resources. Thank you and God bless you! Lisa Mladinich

jesus and maryWhen we honor Mary, we are simply doing what Jesus did.  He was the perfect son perfectly following the commandment to honor his parents.

At the foot of the cross, Jesus said, “Behold, your mother”.  Spend time with some of these resources to deepen your love for Our Blessed Mother.

Meet Your Mother A Brief Introduction to Mary
Written by Dr. Mark Miravalle, a professor who has taught and written about Mary for over 25 years, this is the perfect book to introduce someone to the life and truth about Jesus’ Mother. It can also renew a person’s existing knowledge and love for the woman believed to have brought Jesus into the world, and who Jesus gave personally to every human being with his dying words, “This is your mother.”

What Every Catholic Needs to Know about Mary

Be empowered with the truth about such important Marian topics as her Divine Maternity, Perpetual Virginity, Immaculate Conception, and Bodily Assumption into Heaven.  Plus, you will learn the crucial role that the Church’s Traditional Biblical interpretation regarding the Blessed Virgin plays in understanding her role in the Church today.

You or someone you know has probably consecrated themselves to Mary using this great book!

33 Days to Morning Glory – Book by FR. MICHAEL GAITLEY

From Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC, author of the popular book “Consoling the Heart of Jesus,” comes an extraordinary 33-day journey to Marian consecration with four giants of Marian spirituality: St. Louis de Montfort, St. Maximilian Kolbe, Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Pope St. John Paul II.

Father Gaitley masterfully summarizes their teaching, making it easy to grasp, and simple enough to put into practice. More specifically, he weaves their thought into a user-friendly, do-it-yourself retreat that will bless even the busiest of people.
So, if you’ve been thinking about entrusting yourself to Mary for the first time or if you’re simply looking to deepen and renew your devotion to her, “33 Days to Morning Glory” is the right book to read and the perfect retreat to make.

If nothing else, be inspired by one of the beautiful pieces of Sacred Art depicting Our Blessed Mother.  Here is one of my favorites, Madonna of the Streets.

Fill your heart with a love for Mary and you will be doing exactly what Jesus does. After all, isn’t our goal to imitate Christ?

God Bless
